PDO Threading FAQs

A traditional face-lift creates incisions to access the muscle, fat, and other tissue beneath your skin to alter the shape of your face, then trims away excess skin before closing the incisions. A thread lift offers a far less invasive option.

A thread lift creates impressive yet natural-looking results without incisions or extensive recovery time. The process involves inserting smooth synthetic threads under your skin to lift and tighten your skin.

There are three main types of PDO threads. Threads are made out of a special type of suture material that can be placed under the skin in areas of deeper wrinkles or acne scarring to even out the area. You are awake and numb for this procedure and there are no stitches or surgery involved. The first type of threads are Lifting Threads. These threads can be placed under the skin and pulled back to achieve tightening of the skin. Common treatments include non-surgical facelift, non-surgical neck lift, and lifting and tightening of the crepey skin of the upper arms, upper knees/thighs, and abdomen. PDO threads are safe to use virtually anywhere on the body. The two other types of threads, smooth and twisted, can be placed under scarring or deeper wrinkles to naturally fill in those areas as your body floods the areas with collagen and elastin after the threads are placed. Threads are not typically able to be seen after placement.

That depends upon the type of PDO threads that are used, but generally speaking, your body takes approximately 6-9 months to fully break down the threads, but your body needs elastin and collagen to break down the threads, so the lifting and benefits can last up to 2 years.
